Year 6
Summer term
I hope you and your families had a lovely break! As we step into the summer term, our SATs are on the horizon but the children have all worked so hard to this point so I am sure we will see some very pleasing results later this term. This is, as ever, a busy and exciting term with lots to celebrate towards the end as we say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 children. More details about these plans will be shared with you nearer the time.

Below, you’ll find a sample copy of our weekly timetable. While we aim to stick to it, occasional changes may happen to accommodate special activities or events, especially the first few weeks in the lead up to SATs.
As always, we’re here to support you and your child so please feel free to catch us at the classroom door before or after school for any quick queries. For more in-depth discussions, we’re happy to arrange a meeting at your convenience.
English- Our text will be Street Child and a variety of short film stimulus to inspire their writing.
Maths- We will be revising all topics in the run up to SATS and once these are complete, we will be doing some maths projects and investigations in preparation for the children’s transition to Secondary school.
Science- Our science topics for the summer term are Animals including humans and light.
RE- We will be exploring the religions of Buddhism and Humanism.
Music- In music we will be composing and performing as well as exploring music from the Baroque era.
History- Our topic in History will be Crime and punishment which will include an educational visit to the Police museum.
PE- We will be preparing for sports day and have cricket sessions with the coach.
Art/DT- Our topic for Art will be textiles and in DT we will be doing food technology.
Computing- Our topics for computing are spreadsheets and web design.
